Bonifacio High Street: A Slice of Those Yummiest Desserts

P1030684 COPY.jpg

Where on earth can you find a place where you can indulge in sinful delights and still be in heaven afterwards? Slice, which is owned by Ms. Pia Cayetano, does that to you! A strike of irony, this restaurant has the capability to confine you in your diet through their wide choice of healthy and organic viands but at the same time push you into the bottomless pit of indulgence through their equally wide menu of sinful and yummy desserts.

While the facade is abundantly colored with the colors of the earth, brown and some splashes of green, its interior is very different from what it appears to be from the outside. If not for the customers' smiles and chatters, the inside of the restaurant would be cold and stiff. It may be the drab floorings, glossy table top or the arrangement of the dining sets that gave me that impression the moment I walked in but hey, I was not here for the ambiance but for the food!

Modern vintage in theme, this side of the wall is my favorite! The group of sepia-toned pictures in different sizes, hanged in the wall was a delight to look at!

Baked treats like cookies, muffin and brownies are strategically placed in glass bowls, near the entrance to entice both the visitors going in or out of the restaurant. I just had to open the glass jars and take a whiff!

In here are the different cupcakes and cakes that Slice offers. Does this sight make you drool? I am not into cupcakes and spongy/air cakes but I am a big fan of moist cakes or cheesecakes and I am happy to see that they have a lot of those in their offerings.

One of Slice's signature cakes, the Double Choco Yema (Php 240 /slice) consists of Slice's signature yema sandwiched between layers of moist chocolate cake and topped with sinfully decadent chocolate ganache. Dubbed as "Death by Choco Yema", this slice of heaven is really to die for. If there is just one thing that you should order from their roster of desserts, this would definitely be it!

The Brownie Sundae (Php 220) is a tall order of goodness! Warm brownie wedged between two scoops of Mantecado ice cream and topped with drips of of their home-made fudge and a mizzle of chocolate chips and crushed nuts? Now, who would not want this? But should you be feeling a little less indulgent, you could always have your Mantecado ice cream sugar free (add Php 30). Not really a recommended choice but this would be a very nice subject for sharing for a large group!

Now this is a somewhat new concept. Called Cupcake Banana Split (Php 250), you immediately have an idea what this dessert is all about. Slice's version of banana split, this dessert includes two cupcakes and one large scoop of Mantecado ice cream with slices of banana, drizzles of home-made fudge and sprinkles of choco chips, crushed nuts and glossy edible pearls which brightened up the whole presentation. We are very lucky to get the Choco Yema cupcake and the Red Velvet. But if you prefer a certain type of cupcake from their display, just tell them that and I know that they would grant it!

For a quick dessert fix in Bonifacio High Street, Slice would definitely be my best bet! Their desserts are definitely the kind that you would patiently travel for even in long distances. Good for sharing, spoons and plates clicking and clacking would definitely be a normal scene as you race each other out in consuming these heaven-to-goodness desserts.
