Going Biggie in Hot Star
METRO MANILA, PHILIPPINES. Hot-Star, a popular shop in Taiwan due to their humongous chicken chop, has now found its place in Manila!
"Lav, before anything else, how humongous is humongous?", you may ask. That's a fair question! Well, it is as long as your typical 12-inch ruler, it is bigger than your two palms placed side by side and it is larger than your face. If I haven't sparked a tinge of curiosity from you still, I do not know anymore what would.
Hot-Star already has two flagship branches in the metro. The recently opened one is in Banawe and the other one, where we went, is in Blue Bay Walk along Macapagal Avenue. It was my first time to go to Blue Bay and I was quite amazed by the endless options an individual has there. It pretty much resembles Bonifacio High Street with their art installations and grass patch in the middle but just shorter, smaller and with a lesser crowd since not all people know it yet.
Ordering in Hot-Star is a no-brainer. A counter with a "Please form a line" plastered on its front can be seen the moment you enter the busy restaurant. Go at the end of the line or approach the counter immediately if you are lucky enough to not meet a crowd as you arrive. The menu is very straightforward like any other fast food restaurants out there and you can just pick one out of the bunch. Fancy an Original Fried chicken (Php 110), crispy one (Php 110) or barbecue-flavored fried chicken(Php 125)? No problemo, amigos! You can have them as is or with an add-on order of rice and drink for only Php 35. Pay your order and they will issue you a number which you need to present to pick-up your orders.
Now, that is what I am talking about! Okay, I know it does not look that big in this photo so I made a more visual representation of how big it is below.
See, it is bigger than either my fork or spoon! Not yet convinced? Well, all you have to do now, honey, is to try and see it for yourself! I swear it will blow your mind! The breading may be thick but it is well compensated by the thicker fillet of juicy and delicious chicken meat that is being enveloped by the breading.
If you fancy some fish, like my brother, they also have Large Crispy Fish set meal in their menu. Just some word of advice though: Get the fish elsewhere and stick with the chicken if you dine here, people, because the chicken is not to be missed!
Great for the kids and adults alike, Hot-Star will really tickle your fancy. I had the opportunity to try all the variants but I love better the crunch of the Crispy Large Fried Chicken and the taste of the Original one. There's just a sweet taste in the original version that I could not dismiss. All in all, it had been a great experience eating in Hot-Star. Easy navigation, fast service, helpful staff, catchy exteriors, budget-friendly, big and yummy chicken are just one of the many things I love about it! But really, what else can I ask for from this amazing resto?
Have you tried dining in Hot-Star? How was it?
