Dec 21 Tapas Night in Cinco Jotas

MADRID, SPAIN. Tapas night is always a great idea on a Saturday evening in Madrid. We joined a tour group and part of the experience being put forth by Trafalgar is its ability to let its travellers experience what the the locals typically do at a given day or moment of a day and bring them to the best places there is in town to let them experience it. Our travel director whisked us away to a nice restaurant along Calle del Padre Damian and near out hotel, AC Cuzco. Cinco Jotas is the name of the restaurant and it offers varying types of tapas that are so flavorful and delightful which made me forget all the tapas (especially those disguising as tapas) that I have eaten before.

Our menu lineup included the Jamon Serrano, which is their bestseller and was served in thin slices that are already enough on its own and had become an instant hit for me; the Lomo, which is actually just pork loin sausage which is thicker and is harder to chew but is flavorful nonetheless; Toast Bread with Tomato and Olive Oil which had been a lovely surprise because of its fresh taste; Tortillas Española which was basically a fancy omelette that has some potato and onion in it; White Asparagus with Red Pepper and Mayo which I surprisingly loved but initially was afraid to eat as there had been an instance in my life that I abhorred Asparagus and I was fearing that eating this would bring back the hate; the Croquettes which did not fail; the Cheesecake which was probably the best I had eaten so far because of its milky taste and texture that resembled the Philippines' Pastillas; and the Lemon Sorbet which has been a good palate-cleansing meal ender for me. Chats with our fellow travellers persisted with either a cup of coffee or tea until it was time to go back to the hotel.
