Italian Cuisine Loving in the Slovak Region

Italian Cuisine Loving in the Slovak Region

BRATISLAVA, SLOVAKIA. I am an avid eater. Whenever I am in a particular country other than my own, I make sure to eat their local foods all the time. But you know how sometimes hunger gets the best of you and you just grab whatever that's near you, that's what happened to us when we were done walking around Bratislava. Instead of finding a restaurant that offers amazing Slovak cuisine, we ended up in an Italian restaurant that has a conservatory placed smack at the middle of the Rybarska brana. Truthfully, it's not just the proximity but the chilling weather that brought us there. Nonetheless, I could not lie that the conservatory caught me in many ways possible as I was already imagining myself sitting there with a cup of hot cocoa, sipping it while I watch people going about their busy lives and walking as if they were trying to catch on an important meeting even before we went in.

The interiors were, well, a little bit disconcerting. It was clean, yes, with glossy tiled walls and elaborate candelabras if you will but it just seemed topsy turvy and non-cohesive to me. Maybe the pattern they chose for the wallpaper was just too much. Maybe it was the non-uniformed tile works on the floor that got into my nerves or maybe it was the white and caramel combination of table cloth that just did not work. I do not know. I just felt something was amiss. However, you know how a person can adjust to his environment after some time he is immersed into it. Well, that happened to me in an instant. My initial concerns were not anymore concerns after a few minutes or so. And really, what of the interiors if the food was going to be great, right?

Tortellini Salmone (EUR 9.90)

Since pasta dishes dominated the menu, we mostly ordered the likes of Tortellini Salmone, Tagliatelle Frutti di Mare and Spaghetti Carbonara. We also got a meat dish called Filetto Maiale (Pork Tenderloin) to complement our first orders. The expectations we had of our orders became immense since we were already starving. So when we saw how lovely the dishes looked, as they were brought to us one by one, my starvation grew more to a level reminiscent to that of a person who had been walking in the dessert for a long time, under the scorching heat of the sun without any food to eat. The meat has been fully ravaged in less than 5 minutes! It was so juicy and tasteful that we had been contemplating about getting another serving of it after we consumed all. The pasta dishes on the other hand were all delicious! With the pastas cooked al dente and the sauces and ingredients fresh, the experience of eating all of them had been a delightful one. If you ask me, I specially liked the Tortellini! I just like how the salmon has been emphasized in this dish!

If you still have time left under your belt, you may also want to order some coffee or hot chocolate to allow the food you consumed to be digested. If you had been seated inside the main building during your main course, you may ask your waiter to transfer you to the conservatory for your dessert. The conservatory has that airy and nice atmosphere because it lets the sunlight in and it is a perfect location also to pass time and do people-watching!
