Project 365 Day 84: Roadtrip Continues
We woke up early to see the sunrise back at Split Point. It was amazing. We were blessed to witness a non-cloudy weather, that is why we were able to see the sun rising from the horizon. We travelled back to Lorne, stopping over at a bakery and getting a few delightful pieces. We took those home to supplement our leftover the previous night. We all grabbed our seats at the communal table and ate away, sharing stories from previous times and plans for that day.
We checked out at around 11 AM. We dropped by the beach in front, grabbed a lunch for Aiden on the road to Apollo Bay and visited the Teddy’s Lookout which has that picturesque image in which the road, mountain and ocean meets. After ogling the view, we went back on the road to go to Apollo Bay. Before reaching Apollo Bay, we stopped over at Kennett River to see some koalas. We did see two but it was not the koalas who made the moment memorable but the birds. Ahh those lovely birds that kept on swooshing and landing on all exposed parts of your body: head, arms, hands. It was both scary and fun at the same time!
We definitely took our time in Kennett River before we proceeded at Apollo Bay. First destination there was the Marriner’s Lookout which is an elevated place which lets you see 180 degree vantage point of the Apollo Bay and beyond. The view was jaw-dropping. After which, we went down to the strip of restaurant across the beach and road and settled on an Asian restaurant that offered delicious stir-fry noodles and rice. We were completely satisfied! It was the best meal-ender before subjecting ourselves to that 1.5-hour drive from Apollo Bay to Port Campbell. It was a zigzag of a drive but nonetheless we conquered it in record time. However, we weren’t able to catch anymore the sunset so we just went straight to our accommodation that night which was a cottage made from cedar. Some of us just ran for a couple boxes of pizza and some food for breakfast from the township and went back to the house to have dinner. Netflix was non-existent in the house, which I think was a great thing as we went to sleep early that night.
