Hi! I am Lav.

Welcome to my creative portfolio. I document here my learnings and experiences from my own parenting journey. Take your time to explore and hope you have a nice stay!

Hola Brasas

Jumping in the bandwagon, we visited the newly opened SM Aura Premier located in the Global City in Taguig during its 2nd day. And I must say that it really was built to impress! Although almost half of the shops are not opened yet, just seeing the name of the stores as I walk through the mall's humongous corridors was already enough to make me salivate with excitement! Case in point is the presence of a handful of high street European fashion brands such as Bershka, Stradivarius, Stefanel, SuiteBlanco, River Island to just name a few!

But because of the foodie in me, more than the cool stores, director clubs, a supermarket that has almost everything and the Sky Park, Food on Four is on my top list of things to see and try out.

Food on Four, as its name implies, is on the 4th level of the mall. I was expecting to see a long line up of gush worthy restaurants but to no avail; much to my huge disappointment! I am not sure how they can squeeze more options in but I sincerely hope that they add more given that the food court is huge and I do not think five restaurants would be able to accommodate the volume that it could cater if jam packed.

As a rule of thumb, we chose from the bunch the resto that has the longest line as it is a huge determinant of how good their food is; which during that time was Brasas.

Brasas serves Latin American street foods, a cuisine that is relatively new for the Filipino palate. Choices are not that extensive which is a good thing as it makes it much easier to choose. They do offer asada rice platters, with the choice of beef or chicken (asada is by the way a standard term for barbecue), wraps, salads and Latin American iced tea.

I heard there are more choices though in their Podium branch. I might visit it one of these days!

We almost waited for an hour before we had our turn and when it was already our turn, we were informed that the only item that is available then on the menu are the rice platters. All else are already out of stock. My brother ordered a pollo asado for himself and a carne asada for me. Moreover, they also had ran out of side dishes which they happily replaced with additional sauce of our choice.

Boy did we get blown away the moment we took our first bite! The charcoal grilled meat are so soft and flavorful but not too overwhelming that you would actually take another bite after the other. The cilantro based sauce, which they call chimichurri, was perfect as it gave the right balance to an otherwise satiating meal. Needless to say, I had only experienced the meal in its partiality and yet I am raving about it like this.

Obviously, it was a very satisfying meal which I could see myself eating over and over again; the kind of flavor that you will crave for every now and then. It was that good!

When to say YES or NO?
