Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam: Hotel Nikko Saigon
HO CHI MINH CITY, VIETNAM. A twenty-minute drive from the Tan Son Nhat international airport brought us right smack in Saigon's city center. It was already past midnight when we arrived in the country but finding a taxi that could fit the six of us had not been an impossible feat. They have big taxis you know, and that's one of the many things I appreciate about the city! Keeping up and retaining all the turns the driver took had been impossible though so I just surrendered and feasted on sights that my vision could grasp. Not too long during the ride did we circle around this rotunda and arrived at Nguyen Van Cu St. We took a left and finally found ourselves directly looking at the modern facade of Hotel NIkko Saigon, with a bustling fountain wonderfully obscuring the whole of it.
The modernity of the hotel did not stop on its exterior. As a matter of fact, it extended down to the smallest details of the interiors of the establishment. The hotel looked so posh and polished that I could literally see my reflection on the floor. I had been really tempted to just put my butt on the floor and ask my brother to pull me around to feel the smoothness of the tiles but of course my decency and modesty prevailed! I just lustfully focused my attention on the beiges, whites, soft browns and more neutral colors that dominated the place. It was just perfect and soothing!
The room was fantastic as the earth colors made the stay more comfortable and homey. The staff was ever so helpful with our concerns, quick-to-attend to our queries about directions and what-not and they made sure that we have the nicest days of our lives in their hotel. The influx of big taxis there was unbelievable even in the middle of the night but you may also take advantage of their complimentary shuttle that runs 6 trips daily if you are not rushing through your day. We even booked our day tours through the tour guides from the accredited tour agencies flocking the lobby during the prime of the mornings and afternoons, waiting for their customers. I could really say that our stay in Vietnam had been a flawless one because we made the right decision to stay in this chic and lovely hotel and I think I would choose it again if ever I'll be back in this equally sophisticated city.
