Nov 10 Spending Quality Time with the Family in Kainan Au Gusto

METRO MANILA, PHILIPPINES. Kainan au Gusto is one of those restaurants that you will definitely try because of its air of mystery. If you do not look closely enough or if you are not looking at its side when you pass by it while you drive along E. Capitol Drive, it would really be easy to miss this gem of a restaurant! Those who only make the effort to go down and search for it behind the big trees would discover this place. A cafeteria-styled restaurant owned by the same owner of Cafe Juanita is what will greet you as you peek through the trees.

Setting foot in the establishment would instantly make you feel like you have been transported to a different dimension that is not even possible to exist here in the metro. It is a haven where anybody who wanted to step back from the hustle and bustle of the real world for a while without leaving the city should ultimately consider going to and would definitely benefit from. It just struck me as a happy and wondrous place where I can do some reading while people-watching through the glass, in between coffee sips and contemplative paragraphs.

It is a good thing that we arrived a little bit early than lunch time as there had been no line yet when we came in. The restaurant is all about the Filipino fares like what its sister restaurant, Cafe Juanita, offer. The food on display all looked great and enticing that we simply had to order one of each! Well, almost.

The serving size may look little but wait till you get a taste of the dishes. A bite or two of each dish is already enough because the taste is so full and explosive! We ordered some Crispy Tawilis, Bopis, Beef Mechado, Ginataang Tambakol, Igado, Beef Kaldereta and Chicken Pastel. I personally love the Chicken Pastel, Igado and Crispy Tawilis which I would recommend to my beloved readers who are contemplating to try this restaurant out in the near future!

Kainan au Gusto also has some great and yummy desserts that you can order should you want to order some after a good meal. The pudding was awesome already but the Leche Flan was the ultimate winner! Gosh, it was so creamy and smooth that one will never be enough for sharing. Everybody should at least get one for themselves to heighten the experience!

If you do not have the time to sit down to eat, Kainan au Gusto also offers some grilled items outside which you can enjoy if you are on-the-go. I was really happy to have discovered this hidden gem in the midst of the city. It is the perfect spot to take some time off and to buy some time from the pressures of the world if you are alone but nevertheless also a perfect place for catching up and enjoying a nice family meal with your loved ones, without spending too much!
