Puerto Galera: Amihan Villa On Top
ORIENTAL MINDORO, PHILIPPINES - It was my first time to go to Puerto Galera a couple of weeks ago and I couldn't be more excited about it. After hearing so many stories about the place for so long now, at long last I was able to visit it too! Puerto Galera can be accessed easily if you are coming from Manila, the reason why many people flock the place during weekends. It just require a 2-hour drive from Manila to Batangas port and another hour of water travel from the port to White Beach. You may bring your car too to the island if you like as some of the ferry operators in the port have RoRo vessels, so you do not have to worry anymore how you will travel from one place to another when you are there. We docked on the island a little past 12 noon, rented and rode a mini-cab to Talipanan beach, had a not-so-quick lunch in Luca Cucina Italiana while enjoying the amazing view and travelled halfway back to where we came from to reach the villa that will adopt us during our stay in the island.
Amihan Villa, a 5-bedroom villa, is perched on top of a hill which is quite a distance from the White Beach. If you are neither after the action nor the parties on the White Beach and just want to have some quiet R&R in the island, like us, then this villa would definitely be for you! The short trek to the top was made bearable by the concrete steps planted on the side of the hill, but the climb felt longer than it really was because of my undeniable excitement. I just want to get to the top pronto! We also appreciated that two of the villa's helpers went downstairs to assist us on carrying some of our baggages to the top. So kind! This place is definitely a must stay-in if you are looking for an exemplary service!
We were welcomed by a refreshing glass of iced tea upon arriving on top! The trek made us sweaty and a little bit thirsty so the cold drink was total heaven! It made nice company too while we were waiting in this balcony for our room, while savouring the amazing view! The view was simply breathtaking that I just simply stood there in awe, not minding the time and the heat outside. After a while, our room was already ready for our tired bodies! Great, just in time for some siesta and recharging!
We swam, lounged, slept and ate our heart out while we were in Puerto Galera. We were also able to watch a horror movie during our night there while we each hold a cup of Mindoro Sling in our hands, taking a sip of the drink to calm myself out before the suspense totally kills me! I find myself holding my breath too much all throughout the duration of the movie and the Mindoro Sling helped me take my attention away from it every once in a while! The combined action of the drink and the suspense may have been a match made in heaven as it made us pass out to a deep slumber right after the movie. And when I woke up the next day and saw the tall palm trees, green surroundings, and the perfect mix of white and blue color of the sea and sky waiting for me once again, I knew right there and then that I live for views like this.
