Bratwurst Loving in Wurstkuchl

Bratwurst Loving in Wurstkuchl

REGENSBURG, GERMANY. If you find yourself hungry after roaming around the Old Town of Regensburg, I recommend for you to head on to this lovely, 500-year old tavern along the Danube called Wurstkuchl. Standing right next to the Old Stone Bridge, you can never miss the bright green restaurant facing towards the river.

Wurstkuchl offers a specialty like no other. Their bratwursts are made exclusively from the purest ham of pork. Let us not forget too the unique flavor of the mustard based on the original, historical recipe of Elsa Schricker which goes with the bratwursts and where the absence of which would mean foregoing the full restaurant experience. Aside from the bratwurst, the plate we had been served with also contains a yummy looking side dish. Sauerkraut, which it is called, is the traditional side-order for bratwurst. Every year, approximately sixty (60) tons of this white cabbage mature in wooden barrels to a tasty Sauerkraut which for so many years tickled the fancy of the diners. I know some of you may be asking how does it taste like, and I think it's a hard one to describe but this I can assure you: its taste is something that will remain in your memory and senses for a long time.
