Vinzenzmurr: Answer to A Hefty Eater's Hunger After An Exhaustive Touring Around Dachau
DACHAU, GERMANY. We immediately looked for something to eat after our visit in the Dachau Memorial site. Coming from the site, we went back to where we started (the bus station) but found no restaurant that we like near there so we walked furthermore along the Bahnhofstrasse. In we go and out we went immediately after we find nothing that we fancy from the restaurants along the street; well, until we arrived at the intersection and found a deli shop/restaurant at one of its corners.
The shop is called Vinzenzmurr and is actually quite known all over Germany. It was perfect timing that we found it immediately after the snow started to fall down. We went inside and find the busiest deli shop that we ever saw. But deli shop was not we are after; cooked meat for a meal is what we wanted! So we turned to our right and find the simplest looking, cafeteria-style corner there was. We did not need to fall in line because we were their only customers and it did not take long before we all ordered something for ourselves.
The menu perched on the top of the counter looked promising. There were schnitzels paired with different side dishes, risotto, whole chicken, sausages and a few more slabs of meat that looked delicious from the glass display. Of course, we ordered one of each that caught our fancy. Aside from the great-tasting food and the big serving, they were all affordable too! We only paid between EUR 3 to EUR 5 a meal; EUR 21 for all. What a steal!
Anyway, if you happen to be in the Dachau area and had to refuel after a tour in the Dachau Memorial Site or just to roam around some more, I strongly recommend this place. A cozy restaurant with simple but delicious and affordable food? How can you really go wrong with that?
