It is my birthday today! Instead of dining out and going to the Winter Night Market that Queen Victoria market is hosting every Wednesday night starting a couple of months ago until October, my husband just prepared for me a sumptuous dinner composed of some of my favorites: sweet spaghetti and grilled chicken wings, necks and feet.
I love it that my husband is a better cook than I am and ever since he arrived here in Melbourne last week, he has been the one preparing and cooking all my meals. He wakes up early in the morning to prepare my breakfast and lunch so that I could sneak a few more minutes of sleep. He also packs my lunch box and he cooks dinner for us. I am so lucky to just arrive home everyday from work and just relax on the couch while my husband whip up something for me. And always, always, the dishes he cooks are so amazing I end up eating more than what I should eat every single time.
Aside from the spaghetti and chicken, we also bought a mini chocolate cake that we, or should I say āIā, already started to eat the moment the clock struck 12.
My birthday celebration is neither extravagant nor fancy but this is how I like it to be. Simple yet very comforting and heartwarming. These are the types of simple joys that we often take for granted or dismiss since we are always going after and craving for something bold and big and fancy. These memories are the ones that will stick in our minds and hearts long after all the glitz fade away. These are what we will remember later on when we journey back through memory lane. These are what life is made of.
