God works in amazing ways. I was able to see His goodness throughout my life. Contemplating on the past year and all the things that happened to me, I was able to intently see how He had provided for me.
I flew to Australia last year to forge a path of my own. I stayed in Sydney with my relatives for about two months. I looked for a job during those months but to no avail. I got some phone interviews but that is about it. Nothing progressed. I noticed though that most of the interviews and interests I’ve gotten were from Melbourne.
When nothing was happening still in Sydney, I decided to visit a college friend who is living in Melbourne. The visit was supposed to be just that, a visit. A break from the pressure of job-hunting. But the visit turned out to be something more. I liked the place so much that I eventually decided to try my luck in Melbourne and my friend and her husband were more than happy and supportive of my endeavor they had opened their home to me and let me crash on their couch until I found a suitable work.
She introduced me to her relatives, friends and acquaintances. From there I was able to expand my network. As much as I was relentlessly looking for a job, they too were relentless in finding one for me; until one of their wedding godparents recommended me to the distribution manager of the company that I am working for now.
I was given a casual placement on a December; that time of year when it is not usual for companies to hire people as the holidays are already approaching. The manager was amazing but nonetheless, he still could not guarantee if I’d stay there for long. This went on for about a month until two of their full-time employees resigned leaving the department short of two heads. That day, he approached and asked me if I could stay longer. I told him about my plans of getting at least a week off that coming April as I am getting married. He was happy to grant my request as long as I was happy too to grant his request.
That day I went home feeling happier and more secured.
