Time flies by so fast. It seems like it had only been yesterday when we found that I am pregnant. And now, I am already halfway through it! My baby boy is now kicking more and harder every single day.
I was able to feel his movements on my 16th week. It started with light stomach flutters that I’d first mistook for hunger. Later on, the flutters came in even after I had just finished eating. Well, it can’t be hunger right? So I read some discussions about it in this pregnancy forum that I frequent to and true enough it is my baby’s doing. It looks like he was moving around and doing some acrobatics and somersaults. The movements may just be light but they are significant for me.
The flutters come in at around 10 in the evening. I have timed it and yes, every night, I wait for these flutters to arrive; granted that I have not slept on the couch at 9 pm and is still awake to experience it when they come.
Weeks progressed and the flutters turned to thumps. The first time I felt his thumps, I was so excited. I was sitting on the couch, watching tv and I just finished eating when I felt three regularly-spaced and equally strong blows coming from under my belly. It was pure joy!
After that, his punches got harder by the day. Three nights ago was the most movement that we felt from him to-date. My husband and I were already ready to sleep but our baby boy was still thumping and kicking almost every 30 seconds that we simply could not shut our eyes yet since we were so entertained and engrossed by him! Thinking that he might need calming down, my husband put on some jazz music to soothe Bibibam but he obviously loved it the more that the kicks and punches became more apparent and less-spaced from one another especially during the first few songs. I bet he was having a great time, flailing around his arms, kicking hard and jumping up and down in my tummy. He was clearly having his own party inside.
The music continued but my eyes were already getting heavier and even though I was already falling asleep I felt his movements getting lesser and softer too with the music and with the closing of my eyes. He knows that nanay is already tired, so he too mellowed and quieted down. Such a sweet boy.
