SUBIC, PHILIPPINES - To anyone who has already gone to Subic, I bet you are all familiar with this small-turned-humongous cafe standing in the middle of it. For those who already did go to Subic but had not chanced upon this place when they were there, why oh why have you not?? First of all, it is hard to miss it because of the throng of people flocking the place day in and day out.

PAMPANGA, PHILIPPINES - Last Holy Thursday, we decided to go home and visit our hometown that is Subic. The thought of seeing the place again got me so excited since it has been almost a year now since my last visit to it. Given that it was the start of the holy week when we chose to traverse NLEX, we found ourselves stuck in a bad traffic which transformed the supposedly 2.5-hour trip to an 8-hour one.

MANILA, PHILIPPINES - We celebrated a good friend's birthday at Ninak about two weeks ago. We have been reading a lot about it lately hence the decision to try their food! And boy are we surprised with what we tasted!

MANILA, PHILIPPINES – I do not think it is wise to start a post with a bet but I have a strong feeling on this one. I bet on my peso that everyone or every family, for that matter, has a "default restaurant". Fair enough, right? It is that restaurant that does not need any pondering on for it to emerge whenever you run out of new restaurants you’d like to try out or when you simply find yourself lazy enough to research about what’s hot right now in the metro.

MANILA, PHILIPPINES - The pop-up store that everybody awaits for is finally here in Manila! Magnum Manila opened last April 8 in the magnanimous SM Aura in Bonifacio Global City and is proudly standing along the line of the other new restaurants facing the Sky Park.

MANILA, PHILIPPINES - Tucked in one corner of the newly-opened SM Jazz Residences along Jupiter Street corner Nicanor Garcia and a little away from the line of noteworthy restaurants which make-up the new attraction, all of which clamour for attention and warrant a visit visit is this semi-elliptical, 2-storey of a restaurant adorned by glass walls and a bright, red double door that welcomes everyone who enters.

SAIGON, VIETNAM. We booked a flight to Saigon without knowing what to expect other than what can be read in the blogs and other travel articles. Even those photographs of the city have their own limitations as they can only give you a glimpse and a limited perspective of the place. If we had only based our decision from these lot, we may have not gone to Saigon for the Christmas holiday season.

BALER, AURORA. Baler is one of the go-to places right now especially for people like us residing in the metro. I guess most of us choose this destination because of its convenience and proximity from Manila. Within just 6 hours of land travel, either through private car or bus, people can already reach the surfing destination and come head on with the province's waves in a breeze.

MANILA, PHILIPPINES - Sweets, sweets, sweets! I always have this fondness for sweet pickings. Regularly do I eat them, especially when I was still a little girl! From candies, cakes, chocolates to ice cream, I always get excited whenever there is an abundance of which at home. Maybe that was the main reason why I don a 30-inch waistline when I was in my 3rd grade and maybe that is also the reason why I lost a tooth in the process.

MANILA, PHILIPPINES - In lieu of Grandparent's Day, we treat Nanang (our grandma) to a lovely and filling dinner. Since we are craving for some dimsum and dumplings, we march towards Modern Shanghai which is a fairly new restaurant standing in the visitor-packed and largest mall in the Philippines, SM Mall of Asia.

MAKATI, PHILIPPINES - The restaurant that offers the alleged best Katsu in Japan is now standing and kicking in its first ever location here in the Philippines. Ginza Bairin opened store here in the metro a few months ago and we, Pinoys, have never been happier because we now get to taste dishes like this without leaving the country!

MARIKINA, PHILIPPINES - We, Pinoys, love to eat anything grilled (inihaw)! This love extends to all parts of the Philippines as evidenced by the number of grilling stations that we can see in every street and neighborhood there is in the country.

I cannot deny the fact that I love the taste of garlic! Some people may shy away from it, but me, I simply could not resist it! I just love how garlic balances the taste of everything and how it makes a meal interesting to the palate! However, you have to make peace with the consequence of having garlicky breath afterwards. But hey, what's a garlicky breath if you have nice dishes in front of you to consume and devour!

Do you ever feel that most of our pasalubong centers here in the metro are not as reflective of the Pinoy abilities and as extensive as we want it to be? Moreover, these pasalubong centers usually offer the same products as its other counterparts. Wherever you go, it is the same all through out!
