Singapore Recap Day 2: Books, History & An Amazing City View
SINGAPORE, SINGAPORE. Our first day in Singapore may have been a fun one but our second day there proved to be a magnificent one. Waking up a little later than the previous day, we marched over the hawker center near our place to get some real and heavy breakfast to help us jumpstart our jampacked day and later on travelled towards the nearest train station with calf muscles and feet still aching from the strenuous activity we had the day before but without minding the pain.
TIONG BAHRU: FOR BOOKS & BREADS
Prior going to our main destination, I made sure to drop by the neighborhood of Tiong Bahru to have some coffee or to capture, at the very least, one of the hippest neighborhoods right now in Singapore. The housing estate is located near Tiong Bahru MRT, where we alighted and started our journey. Much like the map I was holding, the walk towards the destination did not give away any proof of vibrancy nearby. The surrounds during the walk were rather quiet and lifeless that I feared I was not heading to the right place. But faith prevailed and each step and turn that we took later on revealed the Tiong Bahru that I had envisioned. I spent my time flipping through books that caught my interest in Books Actually, taking photos around the village that caught my eye and skipping the coffee in 40 Hands and going for a bread excursion in Tiong Bahru Bakery instead.
We bade goodbye to the neighborhood with a full stomach, happy pair of eyes and some good vibes that we caught during our stay there. The next time I will be here, I will definitely head over to one of the coffee shops to try a cup of java despite the fact that I am not an avid coffee drinker.

MARINA BAY SANDS: FOR AN AMAZING CITY VIEW AND WORLD-CLASS INFINITY POOL
The Marina Bay Sands was our major destination that day. Not only was I dreaming about it for so long then but it is also the reason why we went again to Singapore after all this time. The hotel reminded me of the Venetian Macao, partly because of the crowdedness and the river with gondolas traversing it and mostly because of the interconnecting passageways and escalators between the casinos, malls and the hotel itself. Nonetheless, the Marina Bay Sands still has its own trademark and incomparable beauty.
The check-in procedure was fast. Within minutes of receiving our key card, we already found ourselves standing in front of the floor-to-ceiling glass window, eyeing the great city view ahead of us. It was so perfect we mostly spent our afternoon sitting near it, watching Singapore’s National Day practice happening then at The Float and laughing and chatting about life in general as the sun set in, reminding us that tomorrow will be another day.
