Singapore: Marina Bay Sands
SINGAPORE, SINGAPORE - Standing tall along Bayfront Avenue and toppling all other buildings near it, Marina Bay Sands does not need to demand your undivided attention as you will freely give it without force. Aside from its height, the statuesque beauty possesses a different kind of grandeur, a futuristic one if you may, due to its spaceship-like vibe and irregular stance that begets curiosity and amusement from anyone who sees it.
WHAT DIFFERENTIATES IT FROM THE OTHER HOTEL CASINOS?
Basing from other infamous hotel casinos from other parts of the globe such as those in Macau and Las Vegas, it is evident that Marina Bay Sands defied the convention; there was no ginormous gaming floor with a flashy attraction in front and a big hotel connected at its back. Since Singapore has no intention to mimic hotel casinos that came before them and it is more focused on image improvement rather than anything else, they reinvented the wheel and converted the typical to something that is more far-fetched and spectacular. Separating the gaming floor from the hotel and transferring the main attraction from the front to the top made Marina Bay Sands stand up among the rest.
THE ROOM WITH AN AMAZING VIEW
All the rooms in Marina Bay Sands are special. Due to the glass beams installed on the sides of the building which purposefully deflects the sun rays and leave shadows in the process in the rooms making the rooms cooler than usual; let us not forget that this is tastefully done without compromising the amazing city view that can be seen by the guests through the floor-to-ceiling glass window.
The Deluxe Room with City View was amazing as it is. The 39-square meter haven is furnished with a king-sized bed, a walk-in shower with Paiza bathroom amenities, a high-speed internet access (wired/wireless) and a guaranteed piece of Singapore's best city-skyline view. Checking in the room also allows you access to the stunning Sands SkyPark Infinity Pool and a fitness trip to the award-winning Banyan Tree Fitness Club.
SWIMMING WITH THE CLOUDS
The best feature of the hotel for me was the Sands SkyPark Infinity Pool. Anyone who sits and leans back on one of the chaise lounges will have a hard time differentiating, initially, the water from the clouds. Both will deceive you in ways possible; the water reflecting the skies and the skies looking closer to the water will let you think that they are connected somehow. Being on top and seeing you are taller than the buildings make all problems and concerns seem minute here. As chaos below quietens and the fast-paced life temporarily forgotten, all you can do is bask on the beauty and stillness of Singapore ahead of you. It is simply an exhilarating experience to be on top of the world.
Rates for a deluxe room starts at SGD 439. Constantly check the Marina Bay Sands website to catch some amazing deals from them.
