Munich, Germany: Sheraton Munich Arabellapark Hotel
MUNICH, GERMANY. Marking the start of our Imperial Europe tour, we checked in in the chic Sheraton Munich Arabellapark. Taking the S-bahn once again to reach this part of Munich, we arrived in Arabellapark in no time. The hotel is just a few minutes walk away from the S-bahn station which made the transfer quite easy.
The lovely and oh-so-polished red facade of Sheraton is what initially caught our eye. It can't simply be missed. Complementing it is a red revolving door that is big enough to fit in, all at once, a great number of visitors going in and out of the hotel. As you go inside it, slowly are you transported from the sunny outdoors to a more solemn indoors. We were greeted by a dimly lit hotel lobby, highlighted by a few violet/lavender lights that instantly transforms the simple lobby to a posh and more dramatic one. Only a little amount of sunlight goes through the few windows of the hotel which enables its ambiance to remain the same throughout the day. Because of this consistency, you would not be able to distinguish anymore night from day from the lobby.
The check-in process had been fast and easy thanks to the amazing receptionists manning that day. Aside from the key card, they also gave us a form which we could fill out if we want to be a member of their Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) program. SPG gives its member an access to their nine hotel brands in nearly 100 countries. You may also earn valuable points from your stays redeemable for free nights and awards flights. Also, upon accomplishing the form, you are immediately entitled to a 24-hour internet access. Now, who wouldn't want that?
The room was big enough for the three of us and our luggages. Our room exude the warmth and the comfort that can be expected from a Sheraton room or suite. The presence of the soft pillows and bed were both a blessing and a curse as it sometimes become hard to detach our lazy bums from the luxury it had been presented with. However, most of the time they did came as a blessing especially after a tiresome day of walking around the picturesque city.
If you lack the willpower to go out but need some fresh air to clear your mind out, you would be glad to know that all the room in Sheraton Munich Arabellapark has a designated balcony. You can just step out of it and admire the beauty of the city from above and just let the time pass by. Since the sun was already about to set when we came in and settled our things in the hotel room, we were lucky to have seen the magnificent autumn hues of the sky complementing the all-white winter bottom until there was no more to see but the darkness and illuminating lights.
Other than this, you may also alternate yourself between chilling and meeting new people in the Sheraton Club Lounge found on the 22nd floor, working out in their 24-hour fitness center, surfing the internet in the internet corner found in the lobby and swimming in their pool which claims to be the highest pool in Munich. Whoo! That's living the life!
Price starts at EUR 279 for two with daily breakfast for each guest and a high speed internet access.
