All in Travelopes

Captivating Phnom Penh (Day 1)

PHNOM PENH, CAMBODIA. Since we were already in Vietnam, we made sure to also visit its neighbouring country Cambodia. We left Ho Chi Minh on Christmas Day last year and took a bus going to Phnom Penh. It took us about 6 hours and $14 each to get there. A long travel actually but cheap which is favorable for us since spending less is a top priority. During the trip, I could not help but notice how much similar Cambodia is as compared to the Philippines. They both have the same look of the streets, the houses and even the people and how they dress!

SINGAPORE, SINGAPORE - In the middle of my walk towards Maxwell Food Centre I caught sight of these two little roads, Ann Siang Hill and Erskine Road, on the other side of the street. The row of of old Chinese shophouses looks interesting enough that I made a vow with myself that I will go check those out after we finish our dinner at the Maxwell Food Centre. Without giving ourselves much time to rest even just for a while and wait for our food to go down, we marched down towards Erskine Road to start our journey to the unknown.

Gardens By The Bay: A Walk In the Flower Dome, Cloud Forest and Supertree Grove

SINGAPORE, SINGAPORE - It was only the day after we checked out from the Marina Bay Sands that we visited the adjacent Gardens by the Bay. With luggages in tow, we marched towards the starting point of the tour. Paying just an SGD 2 for a round-trip ride per pax on the cruiser tram placed near the Bayfront Avenue MRT station to the Gardens by the Bay, we immediately took it without thinking twice.

The 3 Attractions to Visit Near Marina Bay Sands

SINGAPORE, SINGAPORE - The vicinity where Marina Bay Sands stands is always teeming with people. There is no dull moment here during the day as there is a plethora of attractions that people can go to to see and pass their time by. So just in case you already got tired of swimming and lounging in the Infinity Pool and looking down from the Sky Park on top of Marina Bay Sands, which I doubt would ever happen, there are still a lot of places that you can visit nearby!

A Walk in Tiong Bahru District

SINGAPORE, SINGAPORE - Tiong Bahru Estate is the first and one of the oldest housing estates in Singapore. Its past goes back way before we were even born. During the recent years, Tiong Bahru underwent a rebirth and rejuvenation; from a quiet, residential estate before it now is Singapore's veteran hipster neighbourhood in the country. Together with the new designation it carries is the rise of a good number of specialty shops all around the vicinity.

Up Close With Hello Kitty

JOHOR BAHRU, MALAYSIA - Theme parks boomed in the past few years in this little corner of Johor Bahru. Unknown to some, it now also houses two other theme parks, located in Puteri Harbour, that you might enjoy too. The 4-level family theme park near the water is now housing The Little Big Club and the Sanrio Hello Kitty Town. We, on the other hand, only had our eyes set on Hello Kitty Town because, let us face it, who does not like and does not know Hello Kitty?

An Expedition to Legoland Malaysia Resort

JOHOR BAHRU, MALAYSIA. It was a sunny day when we crossed the border from Singapore to Malaysia to go to Legoland. Let us rewind back a little though as I am getting ahead of myself here. We started our journey in the Singapore Flyer where we claimed our tickets and embarked on our designated coach.

Theme Parks to Visit in Johor Bahru

JOHOR BAHRU, MALAYSIA. So you have already explored all the theme parks in Singapore. What now? Is there anywhere in the country you and your family can still go to to spend your weekends? Do not fret as I got a number of theme parks in mind! These may not be found in the Little Red Dot but they are quite near it, about a 1-hour drive or longer if you will be commuting, and easy to go to.

Singapore Recap Day 3: Forest, Flowers and Food Trips

SINGAPORE, SINGAPORE. Since I hit the sack early the previous night, I was able to wake up at around 6 am the next day. I did not waste time and head on right ahead to the 57th floor of the hotel where the Skypark and Infinity pool are. I was in a mission to swim the whole morning until it is already time to check out and good thing that faith is on my side as I found the infinity pool devoid of the crowd present the previous day.

Singapore Recap Day 2: Books, History & An Amazing City View

SINGAPORE, SINGAPORE. Our first day in Singapore may have been a fun one but our second day there proved to be a magnificent one. Waking up a little later than the previous day, we marched over the hawker center near our place to get some real and heavy breakfast to help us jumpstart our jampacked day and later on travelled towards the nearest train station with calf muscles and feet still aching from the strenuous activity we had the day before but without minding the pain.

Recap of Singapore Day 1 and A Side Trip to Johor Bahru

SINGAPORE, SINGAPORE - Here is a picture-recap of my first day in Singapore! We wake up at around 5 am in the morning and catch the bus going to Legoland (Johor Bahru, Malaysia) in the Singapore Flyer at around 8 am. We booked our tickets weeks ago through Easibook, which offers round-trip coach services and attraction tickets to prime attractions located in Singapore and Malaysia and which gave us also a hassle-free and stress-free trip to the attractions of our choice!

A Fun and Educational Trip to Malolos, Bulacan

BULACAN, PHILIPPINES - In the frontier of a Saturday morning, in between sips of your favorite morning drink and a bite of your homecooked Tapsilog while sitting on the dining room you find yourself thinking on where to spend the rest of your weekend at. You thought hard, thought deep but gave up when you realized that you are devoid of any exciting options. You live in the metro where different sizes of shiny malls abound.

SUBIC, PHILIPPINES -  A new attraction in Subic has opened on the last week of March and I am happy to say that we chanced upon it while we were aimlessly road tripping around Subic last month. With its bright, colorful exteriors, Funtastic will really get your unfailing attention. They were on their 3rd week when we went there, right in the smack of Holy Week, along with a lot of people and there could never have been a more perfect timing than when we went there!

SAIGON, VIETNAM. We booked a flight to Saigon without knowing what to expect other than what can be read in the blogs and other travel articles. Even those photographs of the city have their own limitations as they can only give you a glimpse and a limited perspective of the place. If we had only based our decision from these lot, we may have not gone to Saigon for the Christmas holiday season.

BALER, AURORA. Baler is one of the go-to places right now especially for people like us residing in the metro. I guess most of us choose this destination because of its convenience and proximity from Manila. Within just 6 hours of land travel, either through private car or bus, people can already reach the surfing destination and come head on with the province's waves in a breeze.

Warning: This is a rich in photos post. Upon knowing that there is a museum/gallery like this in the metro, I immediately made it a point to go there the next day. Dolls sometimes give me the creeps especially if they look close to the real deal! But because of my curiosity, I swallowed my fear and went to Dolljoy. The emergence of Dolljoy is a nice story in itself.

One of the worthy tourist destinations in the Philippines is Cebu City. Cebu City is the second major and oldest city in the Philippines. Its large land area of 315 square kilometers houses a lot of noteworthy tourist attractions and Spanish colonial buildings that you should not miss!
